Humanitarian Technical Expert/s - Advising on the technical requirements for effective humanitarian supply chains
The Frontier Tech Hub (FT Hub) is looking for (an) Humanitarian consultant(s) with extensive experience in humanitarian supply chain management to explore the opportunities for frontier technologies to enhance supply chain monitoring. The consultant will require excellent research and analysis skills.
Deadline for applications: 9th January, 08:00am GMT
The Frontier Tech Hub (FT Hub) has been engaging with FCDO and local stakeholders to improve the tracking of nutritional supplies in the humanitarian context through frontier technologies. There is a pilot currently running in Ethiopia using infra-red technologies to track supplies, and learnings to date on the pilot can be found here: https://www.frontiertechhub.org/pilot-portfolio/smart-geoseals
The new Demand-led workstream work in Ethiopia has further surfaced a demand from key stakeholders (WFP, UNICEF, Redcross); to support further investigation of how tech can support various use cases to track across a range of commodities’ humanitarian supply chains. These commodities include vaccines, shelter, food, maternal supplies, etc., and we want to consider effective ‘last mile’ tracking.
Over the years, the FT Hub has seen demand from the Humanitarian sector globally to support the deduplication of aid (as a result of poor supply chain tracking, and other complexities). The FT Hub sees the urgency and the need to double-down on the research and learning from across the globe. Key to this is exploring and capturing what effective supply chain management could be, and the potential tech stacks/solutions that will enable effectiveness and impact.
We are seeking a Humanitarian specialist to:
Identify the range of different commodities tracked in humanitarian response
Undertake some desktop and qualitative interviews to surface key challenges in effective supply chain management, with a deep dive in Ethiopia
Explore global promising and effective practices of supply chain management, especially where tech has been an enabler
Identify tech opportunities and specific usecases for the Ethiopia humanitarian context to improve supply chain management.
Please see the Terms of Reference for a detailed scope of work and requirements here.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis with the application deadline being 9th January 2025 08:00am GMT. Interested applicants should be available to start work immediately. Applicants should submit:
CV(s) of consultants demonstrating relevant experience.
A 1 page cover letter explaining the experience of the consultant(s) relevant to this scope of work.
A high-level technical and financial proposal outlining the approach to the work, timeline, and budget and day rates of consultant(s) and number of days to deliver the scope of work.
